Unmount Volumes Installation and User Guide

Installing a Permanent License

If you wish to upgrade from a trial license to a permanent license, you should receive the new license code in an email after purchasing using the PayPal link on the main page.  You should just re-enter the information in this email into the pop-up that appears when you click on “Enter License Code...”.  The first thing you have to do is unlock the padlock in the lower left corner of the preference pane to allow you to enter the permanent license code.  Click on it, and enter the user name and password for an Admin user.  This must be an Admin user because the set of volumes to be unmounted at boot time is system wide and thus applies to all users.

Now click on the “Enter License Code...” button just to the right of the padlock.  You will get a pop up panel with fields for you to enter name, email and license code like this:

Go ahead and copy and paste the name, email and license code exactly as they are shown in the email you were sent.  It will look something like this (Note: you should include the “--- BEGIN LICENSE ---” and “--- END LICENSE ---” text) :

Click on the “License!” button, and you’re done.  Because this is a permanent license you entered above, you will no longer see the “Enter License Code...” button when the pop up closes, as per below, and of course the check boxes are still enabled, and you can go ahead and select volumes to be unmounted at startup.  You will notice that the button has now become “Check For Update...” which will force the preference pane to immediately check for any updates to the software via the Sparkle update framework.

If you click on the “Check For Update...” button you will either see a pop up indicating everything is up-to-date, as per below, or be asked if you want to download and install a new version:

If you opt to download and install a new version, then the installer will Force Quit the System Preferences application, as the installer seems to have problems if System Preferences is running during install.  Once you relaunch System Preferences, the new version will be active.

Update Schedule

If you do not manually check for updates, the Sparkle framework will check for you once per day in the background.  You will only be prompted if a new version is found.  There is no need to re-enter license information after an update, whether manual or in the background.
